Welome to this tutorial on signal types.

 

If you are a studio owner you will need to buy or make leads to match the connectors on the equipment you have. This may mean having to deal with a lot of different signal and connector types. You will therefore need to understand the different signal types each device produces, which signals are compatible and which must be converted to be compatible.

 

The primary signal types are ..

  • analogue line level
  • digital
  • mic, phono and pickup
  • loudspeaker and headphone

The next four videos in this series explain these signal types in detail.
